The TiVo Roamio OTA is nearly identical to the TiVo Roamio with two exceptions — it will not accept a CableCard and it can only can receive over-the-air TV channels. Outside of that, it does include the streaming entertainment options and you still have to pay the $14.99/month TiVo service fee.

Much like other Roamio versions, the TiVo Roamio OTA records up to 4 HD shows at once, searches TV and streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu Plus simultaneously and there is a TiVo app available for iOS and Android tablets & smart phones.

Pros: Considering its upfront cost, the TiVo Roamio OTA is TiVo’s least expensive DVR. It is simple to use and includes the streaming entertainment options.

Cons: No lifetime subscription is currently available. It’s not compatible with CableCard.
